Pallet racking is the preferred storage solution for many companies around the world; it is the lower cost alternative to cantilever racking. The main function of pallet racking is to store pallets and other items safely and securely.
As they carry very heavy loads, pallet racking systems must be durable and sturdy. To create this stability, the components used to make the racking are of the highest standard. There are different load beams available which are able to hold different total weights. The upright frames used are often supported by diagonal braces which are welded to them; this is also known as upright frame lacing. The racking is fixed to the floor using footplates which further add to the stability of the system; the type of footplate can also have an impact on the weight bearing capacity of the racking.
As well as being durable, pallet racking systems must be easy to navigate with appropriate machinery. Therefore, the racking company that you choose to supply and install the system must be experienced in the logistics of pallet racking.
There are three main types of this racking; drive-in pallet racking, narrow aisle pallet racking and conventional aisle adjustable pallet racking. Each system is appropriate for different uses and can be tailored to your companies requirements.
